Annebet Philips’ Carte Blanche teapot for Serax reimagines a familiar object through a playful porcelain design with the character of a hand-drawn prototype. Its angular form originated from a cardboard model, whose fold lines and irregular edges were preserved in the porcelain and accentuated by deliberately uneven, hand-painted black outlines. This direct translation from the initial model to the finished object is at the heart of Carte Blanche and gives the teapot its distinctive, almost cartoonish appearance.
